We would also like to point out that it is only to your advantage to try a specific taper designed for your fishing needs. Not all weight forward lines perform the same, especially in different climates and casting demands. Bass anglers benefit tremendously by switching from a standard taper to a slightly shorter and more powerful bass bug taper. | The tapered leader and tippet section is very important to any fly fisherman’s success. We urge you not to ignore your leader and tippet. Make sure when that “fish of a lifetime” grabs your fly, that you are ready for battle. Most worn leaders and bad knots will work great for small to average fish, but they will almost always fail on the fish that count!
