Create very realistic fly abdomens and bodies with these feathers.

These large peacock tail feathers have been used since the very beginning for tying flies. The center stem of the herl in the eye is wide and flat and when stripped of its greenish flue or fuzz (an eraser or paraffin works great), can be wound to form a body or abdomen that closely resembles many natural insects.  Many of the other herl pieces are very full and make great, iridescent bodies!

Bodies made with these peacock quills are used on many traditional and realistic fly patterns. Most quill body patterns like Blue Quills, Gordon, Quills, Red Quills and Ginger Quills are tied with these feathers.  Many nymphs can also benefit from this herl.
