The Scientific Anglers Mastery Tarpon Taper is a specialty fly line designed for powerful quick casts in challenging conditions. Tarpon fly fishing is one of the most rewarding and difficult types of fly fishing and demands tackle up to the task.

We have tested all of the tarpon tapers on the market and find this Tarpon taper to have the highest line speed of them all. Line speed in Tarpon casting is everything. It enables you to deliver casts with accuracy especially in windy conditions.

Note:   The floating line is used for most of your Tarpon fishing enabling you to cast and pick up the line to quickly re-fire additional casts. The Tarpon sinking line is very useful for situations where tarpon are not on the surface. These submerged tarpon are best fished with a slow sinking Tarpon taper. It is a smart choice to bring both lines with you.

This taper is available in intermediate sink in both clear and surf color.  The clear is slightly faster sinking than the surf color tarpon taper.  We do find the surf intermediate to be slightly slicker than the clear.  Choose the one that best fits your needs.
