RIO's Powerflex Core Tarpon Lines are the choice of many Florida captains. With a short, forward taper and a hard, smooth coating on a stiff single strand monofilament core, RIO's tarpon fly lines can cast heavy tarpon flies long distances with improved accuracy and great turnover. Total head length varies from 36 ft - 40 ft (11 m - 12.3 m).
Available as a floating line, a floating line with a 9 ft AquaLux intermediate sinking tip or green tint full intermediate with a 9.5 ft AquaLux tip (1.5 ips .7 cm/s). The sinking tip and full intermediate lines feature the same taper as the Clouser line. The intermediate tip has no loops or joints and is very useful, because unlike a full intermediate fly line, the angler can roll cast once to break the line loose, back cast, and get a second shot at the tarpon. F/I line is the line of choice to get under the floating grass to prevent weeds from fouling the fly. The F/I line is also the best tarpon line in extreme wind. These lines feature hard tropical coating on single strand monofilament core.
Note: The 9' AquaLux intermediate tip line is one of the best tarpon lines ever made. This is a great line to have on a spare reel or spool for your Tarpon trip. When it comes to buying a straight floating Tarpon line, we may still lean towards the Scientific Anglers Mastery Tarpon line. Both RIO and SA make great lines, but the SA lines may be a little slicker and have higher line speed due to their
''AST'' technology .Take a look at the "Learn More" link below picture for product specifications.
