The Cortland Braided Monofilament is the mono we recommend to use for splicing loops to rig your fly lines for connection to your backing. Use the 20 lb size for lines 00-5 weight, 30 lb for 6 to 10 wt., and 50 lb for10 wt. and up. Make sure to purchase the proper size splicing needle to effortlessly splice this mono as well as a small tube of Zap-A-Gap.

Note:    We find ourselves always making our loops very large.  It is a handy feature to be able to change fly lines by un-looping your fly line and passing either the line coil or reel through the large loop openning.  Another advantage to splicing your own loops!
